Fail Forward

I hate that the word, failure, has such a negative connotation. Failing is such an integral part of learning and ultimately success. No success was ever achieved without many missteps paving the way. I sometimes call failure a “course correction” or a “data point” or “feedback” in order to reframe the meaning. Because really, if you look at failure as the ally it is, you can see how valuable it can be. When you miss the mark it's remarkable how much information you can gather about what it might take to make the mark. So embrace the nonsuccesses and look at them objectively. Fail quickly and often, it’s part of the process. Do it with curiosity and enthusiasm, it’s where some of the best education comes from. Make failure your accomplice because you can’t win without it!
